Current content of Database

As of March 2017 the Database contains approximately 1,275,000 individual evidence records. Over 159,000 individual ‘Career Narratives’ have been ‘created’, have data linked to them, and are available on the public version of the Database.

The data currently available on the public website of the CCEd relates to the following dioceses:

  • *Diocese of Bangor: all data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and locations; all data has been linked to locations for 1660-1760. Some supporting reference materials have been uploaded.
  • *Diocese of Bath and Wells: data for the period 1540–1660 and 1700–1835 (later period checked and consolidated) has been linked to people and locations;most data for the period 1660-1760 has been linked to persons and places; some supporting reference materials.
  • Diocese of Bristol: data for the period 1540–1835 has been linked to people and location; some supporting reference materials (Later period checked and consolidated).
  • *Diocese of Canterbury: data for the period 1540–1660 and data for the period 1760–1835 (later period checked and consolidated) has been linked to both location and people.
  • *Diocese of Carlisle: data for the period 1540–1660 and 1761–1835 has been linked to people and locations (later period checked and consolidated); supporting reference materials.
  • *Diocese of Chester: virtually all data for the period 1540–1660 has been linked to locations and persons; much of the data for the period 1660–1760 has been linked to both location and people; data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and locations (later period checked and consolidated); some supporting reference materials.
  • Diocese of Chichester: data for the period 1540–1660 and some data for the period 1660–1835 has been linked to people and location; some supporting reference materials. Some data is missing fir the later period having been corrupted
  • Diocese of Coventry and Lichfield: data for the period 1540–1660 and the period 1760-1835 has been linked to people and location; some supporting reference materials. The data from 1760 has been checked and consolidated
  • Diocese of Durham: most data for the period 1660–1760 and all data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and location (later period checked and consolidated).
  • Diocese of Ely: virtually all data for the period 1540–1835 has been linked to people and locations; some supporting reference materials (later period checked and consolidated).
  • *Diocese of Exeter: data for the period 1540–1660 has been linked to people and locations. All collected data for the period 1760-1835 has been linked to people and locations (later period checked and consolidated)
  • Diocese of Gloucester: all data save for a few troublesome entries has been linked to location and people.
  • *Diocese of Hereford: data for the period 1750–1835 has been linked to people and location.
  • Diocese of Lincoln: some data for the period 1540–1660 and most of the data for the period 1660–1835 has been linked to location and people; data for the period 1720-1835 has been checked and consolidated; some supporting reference materials.
  • Diocese of Llandaff: data for the period 1660–1835 has been linked to people and place, and checked and consolidated.
  • Diocese of London: much data for the periods 1540–1660 and  all that for 1760–1835 has been linked to location and people. Some data has been linked to location and people for the period 1660-1760.
  • Diocese of Norwich: most of the data for the period  1660-1760 has been linked to people and locations; data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to location and people; .
  • Diocese of Oxford: data for the period 1540–1660 has been linked to people and locations; some data for the period 1660–1736 has also been linked to people and locations; almost all data for the period 1736–1835 has been linked to people and locations; supporting reference materials.
  • *Diocese of Peterborough: data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and locations; some data for the period 1540-1760 has been linked to person and place.
  • *Diocese of Rochester: data for the period 1540–1835, which has been linked to people and locations; supporting reference materials.
  • *Diocese of St Asaph: some data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and locations.
  • Diocese of St David’s: data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and locations; most  data has been linked to locations for period 1660-1760.
  • Diocese of Salisbury: most data for the period 1660–1835 has been linked to people and locations; some supporting reference materials.
  • Diocese of Sodor and Man: all available data has been linked to people and locations; supporting reference materials.
  • Diocese of Winchester: most data for the period 1540–1835 has been linked to location; some supporting reference materials.
  • Diocese of Worcester: data for the period 1540–1660 has been linked to people and locations; almost all data for the period 1760–1835 has been linked to people and locations.
  • Diocese of York: some data for the period 1540–1660 and most data for the period 1730–1835 has been linked to people and location; some supporting reference materials.
  • Domestic Chaplains: Data has been linked to people and to individual persons who are the ‘locations’ for these chaplaincies for the period 1760-1835.
  • The Church overseas: Some data relating to the period 1700-1835 has been linked to both person and place.
  • Westminster Abbey: A history has been added to the website. Mosty data for the period from 1760 has been linked to location.

Current work

At present work is progressing on the following dioceses:

  • Diocese of Bangor: supporting reference materials are being prepared for upload
  • Diocese of Canterbury:linkage is continuing for data for the period 1730-1770.
  • Diocese of Durham: linkage is continuing on data for the period 1660–1835.
  • Diocese of Peterborough: data for the period 1660-1760 is being linked.
  • Diocese of Salisbury: linkage is continuing on data for the period 1660–1760; supporting reference materials are being written.
  • Diocese of York: linkage is continuing on data for the period 1660–1835.
  • Domestic chaplains: linkage is continuing for the period 1740-1770
  • Westminster Abbey: the data for the period after 1701 has been collected and uploaded: linkage is about to commence.  Some supporting materials.
